Morgan Hunter sacrificed everything for her career. She had yet to encounter anything she wasn’t willing to do to succeed…until now. When she uncovers evidence that the healthy foods she’s been hired to promote may be dangerous she must reevaluate her priorities. As questions mount and the body count rises, she finds herself caught in the crosshairs of an organization that will stop at nothing to hide its secrets and protect its profits. With no one else to trust, Morgan is forced to seek help from the man she drove away, but whom she never stopped loving.
This is the second book in the series, the first is titled, A Dose of Danger.
Five questions Kim chose to answer.
What is your favorite thing to do during your spare time…besides writing?
During the summer, I enjoy spending my free time gardening. I could easily fritter away an entire day out in the back yard tending my vegetables and flowers. I especially love the amazing variety of roses I acquired with the house.
Ann: At my house, my husband does the vegetable gardening, and I do the flowers. My favorite is zinnias because they need to be picked just about every day in order for them to keep blooming. So, during the summer months, I have at least one bouquet in the house all the time, usually two.
How do you think your life experiences have prepared you for writing?
I travel whenever and where ever I can which has provided me with an endless supply of settings for my stories. Probably the most fodder, though, has come from my childhood. I grew up in the country and horses were a huge part of our family life. We recreated in the mountains as a family and had some interesting, and at times, harrowing adventures that often sneak into my stories.
Ann: I think it is almost impossible for an author to write without including some of their own life experiences. I embellish them a bit, but still, like you, many of my scenes come from childhood memories.
What genre is your favorite to read?
I read, write, and watch adventure and suspense. I love stories of survival against the odds and being taken on adventures and journeys outside the comfort zone of my day-to-day life.
Ann: I also prefer to read books written in the same genre I write. As an author, I find it helpful to see how other writers start sentences, transition from one scene to the next, introduce their characters, etc.
What is one of your favorite quotes?
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” Mark Twain – Innocents Abroad
Ann: Well, you can never go wrong quoting Mark Twain!
What’s next for you? Any upcoming releases we should be looking out for?
The third novel in the Risky Research Series, A Foundation of Fear, is under contract with Pelican Book Group. It has gone through its first round of edits, but I don’t have a release date yet, so I hope readers will check out one of my social media links below to follow its progress. In the meantime, here’s a little bit about the book.
FBI Special Agent Devyn Nash is obsessed with taking down Coterie, a deadly group out to control the multi-billion-dollar-a-year diet-product industry. The FBI’s plan to expose Coterie places Devyn’s best friend and her partner’s fiancé in the crosshairs of this ruthless organization. Can Devyn protect her friend and bring the cold-blooded killers to justice before they strike again while distracted by injury, a sexist bully, and a long-distance relationship with a handsome Wyoming sheriff?
Ann: The series sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing your work with my readers!
